Now EMI says it’s removing the settings, which it says were put in place accidentally, and is offering an exchange. Fans can swap a version of the CD that doesn’t allow any copies to be made for one that permits three burns - as the record company intended.

So yeah this is how I turn the music I purchased into a regular music file that isnt encumbered by Digital Rights Management which limits what I can do and how I can play it.

Why i hate advertising - Mostly the T.V. kind

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Ok i’m sure others will agree with a few points I have to say but in general i think i hate advertising far too much for a normal person. Basically i feel that advertising is ruining the content of the media we consume from day to day, with television shows shortening the length of their intros to make more room for advertising spots (stargate series). Or online ads that redirect you to other sites if you hover over them or the dreaded popups/unders/inbetweens. Basically i feel that print advertising has the right balance the ads help pay for the content in the magazine/newspaper and isn’t in your face like tv or online ads which you cannot easily ignore. Premium content services like cable tv (comcast) or online sites (ign.com) should not show me advertisments if i am a paying subscriber the point of accepting advertising is usually to pay for the upkeep of your business as well as make some money if i am paying you for your content why should i have to be shown ads? The content of advertising can also be innappropriate some ads are edgy (or offensive) to get your attention or show scantily clad women which no male should be looking at or dwelling on (unless they’re married to said woman). On a final note the new trend of in game (videogame) advertising is a appaling i do not want to be paying $69.99 for a game to be shown advertisiments for a tv show or someother product/service while i’m trying to relax and enjoy myself. Books and cd’s which are similar entertainment mediums in that you pay a one time fee for unlimited enjoyment do not come with advertisments. The game ad services are also known to track the IP of the person looking at the ad, the unique computer number (probaly generated from the cd-key), and the length of time looked at the ad these service is pratically spyware.

Why i sit in the front row in church

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

YesImactually updating this after all your bugging…

The reason I sit in the front row is that it is a whole different experience than sitting even one row behind because there are fewer distractions. For example if I feel led to stand up in worship which I usually do as I find it hard to worship sittingdown you’re not afraid to stand up because you don’t know if the people behind you are or are not because you can’t see them. Some of my more shy friends (Sara) probably would find it more difficult to sit up front which is why I sometimes have to drag people up there with me.

Also the fact that several pastors have said that fourth service is their favorite and that they enjoy us front row people and our energy doesnt hurt either.
