Yes a rare post in the politics section! I’d love to see what Aaron Fossum thinks about this but recently a Washington state initiative to repeal a 9 cent increase in our gas tax gathered twice the amountof necessary signatures to get on the ballot so it’s inevitable that Ill get to say no to it. The thing is that like everyone i hate tax increases but i am a firm believer in usage taxes in that those that use the services should pay for them. So in the case of gas taxes the people with fuel inefficient vehicles and delivery business will pay for the wear and tear on our roads. The tax also goes towards paying for replacing/fixing the Alaskan way viaduct which desperately needs some updating and adding a new bridge on route 520. In addition this gas tax goes towards roads in eastern Washington that would otherwise fall into disrepair without those of us in the more densely populated counties paying for.
