RE: The Christian Imitation

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

God's WayHave you ever seen a “got pepsi?” T-shirt?

No.
Do you know why? Because Pepsi–”and any other company and organization worth their salt–”is smart enough to come up with something original. They don’t “borrow” ideas from other campaigns and insert their own name. They don’t make look-alike logos.

Once in a great while they may spoof another company’s commercial or tag line, but usually only the very clever can pull it off.

So why does the church constantly imitate what’s already been done?

RE: Initiative 343 assailed as attack on immigrants (7/22/2005)

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

An initiative aimed at halting voting rights and other benefits to illegal aliens in Washington was derided last night as an “anti-immigrant” movement that threatens the “soul of America.”

But i’m not pointing the link to you because it’s not very high quality.

I’m burnt Annie’s engaged and Aaron’s writing a reply.

Monday, July 18th, 2005

The title pretty much sums it up, I was at our usual ultimate at the park at 1:30 and I played without my shirt on today because it was 80 degrees fahrenheit and boy are my shouldersred they don’t hurt yet but it’s likely that they are going to. Ultimate was really fun today as we had 21 people there snow cones and fairly even teams. Aaron Fossumcame out with his wife and heather the girl that is renting a room from them and Aaron was reminded of his lack of youthfulness and lack of exercise from when he came running with us. After the game Josiah, Mark, and I went and took a shower at the mensrestroom in the churches basement and that was nice and refreshing. Ohh and the stretches my doctor gave me helped me to have no knee pain this week.

Annie Cooley is engaged to her fiancé Joe (something) I am really happy for them and as her ex-bf someone came up to me in church and asked if Iwas comfortable with that and I told them “yeah of course why wouldn’t I be?” We talked and that person explained how they were not comfortable with their EX being married as they do not trust their motives.

And Aaron Fossum read my blog entry and saw that I was interested on how he views i-92 so Ill be awaiting that.

RE: It’s back to pick-a-party primary (7/16/2005)

Saturday, July 16th, 2005

Two years after a federal appeals court declared Washington’s popular “blanket” primary unconstitutional, a federal judge yesterday ruled the state’s new voter-approved Top Two primary unconstitutional as well, for largely the same reason.

Sorry Charmaine

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

So i’m at youth group tonight (as staff) and i see a student walking around with a cup on her head and i told her something to the fact of “pssh no water what’s the point” so i take the cup when offered to me “yeah lets see you do it” and fill it with water. The problem was that she didn’t see me fill it with water so i balance it on my head and walk back to her, when she grabs the cup she takes it assuming it’s empty so she grabs it quite hard and manages to throw water around the youth room in like a 40 degree arc. Splashing one student and creating quite a mess i grab paper towles and helped her clean it up as it was party my fault as well. Somewhat of an embarassing moment.

Good article on I-92

I have Iliotibial Band Syndrome

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sportsmedicine/a/itbs.htm

“Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) occurs when there is irritation to this band of fibrous tissue. The irritation usually occurs over the outside of the knee joint, at the lateral epicondyle–the end of the femur (thigh) bone. The iliotibial band crosses bone and muscle at this point; between these structures is a bursa which should facilitate a smooth gliding motion. However, when inflamed, the iliotibial band does not glide easily, and pain associated with movement is the result.”

Basically ultimate frisbee in it’s running and sudden stops and starts and my not stretching my hips caused me to have very annoying knee pain and the outside of my knees are being stressed more than the inside so it causes my knees to hurt during exercise. I have 3 stretches of 30 seconds each to do a day as treatment as well as i’m supposed to get orthodics.

I’ll not be voting to repeal the gas tax

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

Yes a rare post in the politics section! I’d love to see what Aaron Fossum thinks about this but recently a Washington state initiative to repeal a 9 cent increase in our gas tax gathered twice the amountof necessary signatures to get on the ballot so it’s inevitable that Ill get to say no to it. The thing is that like everyone i hate tax increases but i am a firm believer in usage taxes in that those that use the services should pay for them. So in the case of gas taxes the people with fuel inefficient vehicles and delivery business will pay for the wear and tear on our roads. The tax also goes towards paying for replacing/fixing the Alaskan way viaduct which desperately needs some updating and adding a new bridge on route 520. In addition this gas tax goes towards roads in eastern Washington that would otherwise fall into disrepair without those of us in the more densely populated counties paying for.
